Interventionist and Expectative management in patients with severe preeclampsia
According to the World Health Organisation preeclampsia has a prevalence of 2.3% of the
total number of pregnancies in developing countries. More than 50% of severe preeclampsia
occur before 34 weeks of gestation and are responsible for 20% of maternal mortality. In 2009, in the maternity of the IMSPSCM N1, Chişinău, the prevalence rate of preeclampsia was 0.3% from the total number of pregnancies. Severe preeclampsia represented 68.1% from the total number of cases of preeclampsia. The aim of this study was to compare and evaluate the efficacy of treatment associated with interventionist management, versus treatment associated with expectative management of severe preeclampsia. The study concluded that interventionist management associated with minimised and optimised anti-hypertensive treatment, prophylaxis of respiratory distress and seizure prophylaxis with MgSO4 essentially reduced the peri-natal mortality and morbidity. In patients with severe preeclampsia, increased rates of caesarean operations not related to the
gestational term lead to prevention of maternal and foetal complications. |
