Minimal-invasive osteosynthesis of distal femur fractures (review of literature)
At present, the evolution of treatment of distal femur fractures is at the point that raises for
discussion the evaluation of the balance between biomechanical stability and conservation of blood supply to the fracture outbreak. The goal of treatment of metaphyseal–diaphyseal fracture is not getting a “beautiful” postoperative radiography, but the restoration of respective limb function in the shortest time. The conflict between the need for absolute anatomical reduction of fracture and the desire to keep the blood supply of all bone fragments is analogous to saying ”wash me but do not wet me” (C. Krettek). For this reason, the direct open reduction of the articular surface and the indirect reduction of the metaphyseal fragments have become welcomed lately. |
