Ecologically and psycho-emotionally conditioned health disturbance caused by stress-factors that exceed adaptive
capacity of the organism represent one of the main problems of contemporary people. Physiologically it manifests itself
in weakening the unspecific immunity and as a result induces infectious, viral diseases and even cancer; heart beating
disorders; painful infiltration forming in muscular tissues – “frozen” tension areas etc.; and mentally – in suppressed
mood, anxiety, high conflictive spirit or desire for holding aloof, depression and as a result causes lowering the
capacity for work and human social activity.
However, the perception of the light, color, sound and aroma makes an integral part of our lives. Plant aromatic
substances contained in the air in a low percentage represent an obligatory component of an optimal air medium and
are essential to normal functioning of living beings, because they are natural bioregulators of the biosphere
composition and provide transmission of the information from the environment, directed on bioregulation, realized on
different levels of biosystem organization – from subcellular to one of the integral organism. These signals are
perceived very fast as well as the answer is formed immediately. It’s obvious then that aromas quickly influence the
emotional state and human behavior; and under certain conditions may play the role of emotion and mood modulators.
The essential oil components when being received to organism join in the synthesis of hormones, ferments, vitamins and
other biologically active substances. Thus the possibility to influence the regulation of the functions of cardiovascular,
endocrine systems, muscular activity, etc. through hypothalamus and autonomous nerve system by certain aromas
becomes clear. Essential oils possess antiseptic, antiviral, regenerative, diuretic, spasmolythic, etc. proprieties.
In such a way, the application of the essential oils in Stone Therapy permits to regard stress not only as a
biomedical problem, but also as a socio-psychological one. The essential oils being used in Stone Therapy can
considerably expand the area of application of the ultimate thanks to the vast list of their positive effects on the
organism and in many cases concretize or direct the therapy to solving a certain tasks. |
