Rezumat

In recent years the external agricultural trade of the Republic of Moldova has undergone huge change, quantitative and particularly qualitative, which will lead in the near future to the final reconfiguration of the entire sector. Furthermore, a sudden decrease of agricultural exports of the Republic of Moldova, due to geo- political processes in the region, in a continuous change, put local producers in a situation of crisis (eg. wine industry, sugar, meat, etc..) and the temporary lack of supply created therefore in the domestic market of food products leads to a very quick replacement of local produced food with imported products. Therefore, the degree of substitution of imports by exports (agricultural) deteriorated from 2.7 in 2000 to 1.04 in 2008! Thus, an urgent need appears for critical re-specialization of the food industry in order to substitute massive food imports.
