The issues of interlink between the social capital and the democratization of post-communist societies on the example of Ukraine and Romania are examined in the given research. The scientific investigation emphasized that people of both countries confuse assess of the concrete political institution with its representatives while examining the governmental institutions and civil society activities. In the case of Ukraine and Romania it was revealed that direct support for democracy has been associated with the development of social capital. Positive role of social capital is revealed through its individual components such as the level of trust in the institutions of civil society and the level of life satisfaction.
