Rezumat

Most experts centred upon the systematic study of the social repre sentations agree with the idea that the transformation of the later occurs as a result of the fl uctuations that take place at the level of the social context and/or in the context of daily practices. How exactly takes place this phenomenon? There are two answers to this question that seem to be extremely interesting- the one of C. Guimelli and the one of P. Mannoni. According to C. Giumelli, the transformation of the social representation represents an ample process consisting of six consecutive phases: the emergence of the event bearing a strong i mpact upon the group, the alteration of the exterior circumstances, the emergence of new behavioural practices and their increased frequency, the activation of the cognitive schemes able to prescribe new practices, the reorganisation of the social representation field and finally the admissi on of “strong” elements in the central system of the representation. As to P.Mannoni, he believes that the transformation of the social representation is the result of two separate mechanisms. In the first mechanism the evolution is determined by the modification of mentalities which act like st imuli in the process of elaboration of social practices. In the second mechanism, the external circums tances change and which increases the chance of the representation to get new forms and meaning.
