This topic is widely discussed recently as there are contradictory opinions that interjections can render conceptual meaning. If an interjection is associated with a certain context it is able to render a conceptual meaning. We consider that depending on the type of the interjection it is either able to express conceptual meaning or not. Some interjections are primary, others are secondary. The later derived from other parts of speech so they can render the meaning inherited from the part of speech they were coined from. The primary interjections can express natural signals and linguistic signals. One of the reasons why interjections do not encode concepts is that they cannot be substituted by synonyms. The interjections which express natural signals have synonymic pairs so they encode concepts. The given study helps in clarifying certain things about English interjections with reference to their possibility to encode concepts.

Les derniers temps ce sujet est largement discuté vu les diverses opinions concernant la capacité de l’interjection d’exprimer une signification conceptuelle. Si une interjection est associée à un certain contexte, elle est capable d’exprimer une signification conceptuelle. Nous considérons qu’en fonction du type d’interjection, elle peut ou non exprimer une signification conceptuelle. Certaines interjections sont primaires, les autres, secondaires. Les dernières sont dérivées d’autres parties du discours, de cette manière elles peuvent en exprimer la signification conceptuelle. Les interjections primaires peuvent exprimer des signaux naturels ou linguistiques. L’une des raisons pour laquelle les interjections n’encodent pas de concepts est qu’elles ne peuvent pas être substituées par des synonymes. Les interjections qui expriment des signaux naturels ont des paires synonymiques, donc elles encodent des concepts. La présente étude aide à clarifier certaines questions sur les interjections anglaises en ce qui concerne leur possibilité d’encoder des concepts.
