The article is focused on access to health care of vulnerable groups of population during the pandemic. The study highlighted, that people with chronic diseases, people in rural areas, poor people, the elderly, and people with disabilities in general have less access to medical services than general population. The situation is due to reduced availability of diagnostic and treatment services in their localities, limited fi nancial resources, reduced support from the local public authorities in accessing care services, low level of information about the services covered by the health insurance, and high degree of stigma in health facilities. During the pandemic period, the access to healthcare of these groups of population, compared to the general population, decreased signifi cantly due to the fear of infection, limited access to appointments, restrictions due to the pandemic, busy doctors and crowded hospitals. Under these conditions, some of the vulnerable people had to postpone important medical services, which led to a worsening of their health. |
