Assisted reproductive technology (ART): are all the treatments or the procedures that include the in vitro processing of human oocytes, sperm or embryos for the purpose of achieving the pregnancy. The implementation of ART methods in all countries of the world have led to appearance of different ethical problems. The article defi nes the ethical and the legal aspects of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) that are present in various countries of the world. It is provided a review of international legal practices and the position of various religions in the area of assisted reproduction. The main ethical issues that are discussed in this article: donation of gamete and embryos, freezing of reproductive cells and embryos, surrogacy and preimplantation genetic diagnosis. In Republic of Moldova, the IVF method it is successfully practiced for the lastl5 years. However, underdeveloped legal and regulatory frameworks create the diffi cultness in the effective use of this method. Considering the positive and negative experiences of the other countries, there is a need to develop and to approve legislatively, the regulations that are governing the activities of the assisted reproduction centers in our country.

Вспомогательные репродуктивные технологии (ВРТ): все методы лечения и процедуры, которые включают в себя обработку in vitro человеческих ооцитов, спермы или эмбрионов, для того чтобы наступила беременность. Внедрение методов ВРТ во всех странах мира, привело к возникновению различных этических проблем. В статье представлены этические и юридические аспекты вспомогательных репродуктивных технологий, имеющиеся в различных странах мира. Приведен обзор международной законодательной практики и позиция различных религий в области вспомогательной репродукции. Главные этические вопросы, дискутируемые в статье: донорство гамет и эмбрионов, замораживание репродуктивных клеток и эмбрионов, суррогатное материнство и преимлантационная генетическая диагностика. В республике Молдова метод ЭКО успешно практикуется на протяжении последних 15 лет. Однако, недостаточно развитая законодательная и нормативная база затрудняет эффективное применение данного метода. Существует необходимость, учитывая положительный и отрицательный опыт других стран, разработать и законодательно утвердить положения, регламентирующие деятельность центров вспомогательной репродукции в нашей республике.
