Rezumat

The article is devoted to the analysis of the energy policy of the Republic of Moldova in the context of European integration, the main trends and development processes of the energy sector. Particular attention is paid to the prospects for rapprochement with the European gas market, the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to join the Third Energy Package of the European Union, which in practical terms is focused on separating the system of production and supply of energy from the system of its transportation, are analyzed. In this context, it should be noted that the Republic of Moldova signed a corresponding agreement on accession to the Third Energy Package in 2010. In 2014, The Moldova – European Union Association Agreement was signed, under which Moldova pledged to comply with the norms of the Third Energy Package. All these events have forced many experts to view EU initiatives and programs in the energy sector through the prism of a common foreign and security policy. The inclusion of Moldova in the EU energy agenda began with the EU-Moldova Action Plan, which was adopted on February 22, 2005. The conceptual approach of the Union to energy security is evidenced by the developed and adopted legislative acts in the field of regulation of the electricity and gas sectors. Analyzing the evolution of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the EU in the energy sector in the near future, it was concluded that the main focus of this dialogue will be on ensuring the security of energy supplies through the development of competition between suppliers.
