In this article, the author deals with the issue of consolidating legislation, as one of the forms of systematization of legislation. A thorough analysis of the meanings of the term consolidation in various doctrines and legal systems is made and its specific features are described. The difference between consolidation and other forms of legislative systematization is analyzed and is argued the opinion that consolidation is an independent form of systematization. The author proposes, based on the analyzed material, its own definition of consolidation, as a legislative systematization activity, performed by the issuing authority of the normative act, by adopting a new consolidated normative act, containing provisions from a plurality of normative acts, of different categories, which does not bring essential changes to the regulation of the affected social relations. Likewise, it is proposed to amend Law no. 100 of 2017 on normative acts for the inclusion of this definition.
