Rezumat

The surrounding environment has created all the conditions for the appearance and subsequent evolution of life on Earth. Man, from the first moments of consciousness, used all the goods created by nature, which allowed him to prosper and achieve new results in his development as a species. With the passage of time and population growth, man’s needs and desires have also increased, which has forced him to produce and diversify more and more the range of goods created. The intensification of production has led to the depletion of natural resources but also to the emergence of another problem that is getting worse with the passing of time, namely the formation and accumulation of wastes. The most significant obstacle to solving this problem is the fact that people are not aware of its importance. In anticipation of a possible solution, man must realize that environmental protection and waste management is one of his most important duties. In order to be aware of the impact that each person has on the environment, it is important that citizens are informed about the current situation regarding waste and the possibilities for recycling, valorization and management. For this purpose, by Government Decision No. HG682 / 2018 of 11.07.2018, the concept of the Automated Information System “Waste Management” (SIA MD) was approved, which increased the accessibility to environmental data through digitization. The SIA MD platform is a statistical tool that allows for accurate data on waste generation and management. Thus, at the end of 2020, 583 reports were registered from reporting economic agents. This paper presents the statistical data on waste management in the Republic of Moldova for 2020, including their generation and collection, according to the nomenclature of categorization and identification of wastes approved by Government Decision No. HG99 / 2018 of 30.01.2018 for the approval of the Wastes List.
