Some biological characteristics, peculiarities of growth and development of potential honey crops grown in the collection of the Plant Resources Laboratory of “Alexandru Ciubotaru” National Botanical Garden (Institute) are described in this article. These species are: milkvetch Astragalus galegiformis, bird's-foot trefoil Lotus corniculatus, sand sainfoin Onobrychis arenaria and common buckwheat Fagopyrum esculentum. These plants have adapted to the climatic conditions of our country and are able to complete the entire ontogenetic cycle, bloom and produce viable seeds. The species with a long flowering period are attractive to honeybees and other pollinating insects.
