In many parts of the world, diasporas are increasingly recognized as key actors not only in national, bilateral and global affairs, but also in the development of their homeland. Their po-tential as “bridges” between societies and states is widely acknowledged. Also, diasoporas is treat as unic actors that realized the fusion of cultures, interests and attitudes between “old” and “new” homeland. The resources of diaspora populations that flow across borders are immensely varied and range from skills, knowledge and ideas to cultural capital, to financial capital to trade. The paper analyzes the relationships between diasporas, host societies and countries of origin, and the important role played as transnational communities in linking these societies.
