During the last ten years, most central banks that have price stability as main objective of the monetary
policy have pass from the use of consumer price index or GDP deflator as inflation index to
another index of inflation that is core inflation. This index is based on the method of measuring the
consumer price index by excluding the prices for some goods and services that do not depend on the
monetary policy measures as well as on the most volatile prices. |
