Rezumat

As time passes by, the field of scientific research in archaeometry that used to be limited to the quantitative characterisation of archaeological material through the use of physical and chemical methods, microbiological, genetic, etc. has imposed new complex methods such as: geo-radar techniques, LIDAR, 3D scanner and GPS, acquiring a series of new subdomains of processing such as prospection, dating and analysing the provenience. At the same time, the applicability in domains related to natural science was developed, such as: archaeozoology, archaebotanics, anthropometry, forensics, land register, while alongside were developed important imagistic and restoration techniques. At the present time numerous methods of absolute and relative dating are known. The present study represents a review, that presents the modern dating methods used in the field of forensics, and more: the method of radioactive carbon, the potassium-argon method, the method of dating by thermoluminescence, the method that uses the determination of rare elements in the bones and the evaluation of certain chemometric markers with archaeometrical value.
