Background. Total edentulism is the pathological absence of all teeth of dental arches. Thus, it is considered a serious pathological condition of the stomatognathic system, affecting the basic functions performed by them (mastication, physiognomy, phonation) with consequences for the entire human body. Objective of the study. Study of the particularities of the treatment of total edentulousness with different types of implant-prosthetic solutions. Material and Methods. For this study were examined specialized manuals, articles from national and international medical sources, were selected 20 patients aged between 52 and 74 years completely edentulous who were rehabilitated with various prosthetic methods. The study was performed for a period of 18 months and included questionnaires of satisfaction and masticatory efficiency. Results. Movable prostheses, fixed screwed prostheses on implants and fixed cemented prostheses on implants were chosen as treatment methods. Thus, following the study, the lowest degree of satisfaction and chewing was received by movable prostheses, with a percentage of 40% satisfaction and 30% chewing. An equal degree was present in fixed prostheses on implants by screwing and cementing, with differences of less than 10%. The percentage of satisfaction and chewing was 90%. Conclusion. Implant-prosthetic restoration is the rehabilitation of election in the treatment of total edentulousness, with impressive results, fully restoring the stomatognathic system and its functions.

Introducere. Edentația totală reprezintă lipsa patologică a tuturor dinților de pe arcadele dentare. Astfel, aceasta este considerată o stare patologică gravă a aparatului dento-maxilar, afectând funcțiile de bază îndeplinite de acestea (masticație, fizionomie, fonație) cu consecințe pentru întreg organismul uman. Scopul lucrării. Studiul particularităților tratamentului edentației totale cu diferite tipuri de soluții implanto-protetice. Material și Metode. Pentru acest studiu au fost examinate manualele de specialitate, articole din surse medicale naţionale, cât şi internaţionale, au fost selectați 20 de pacienți cu vârsta cuprinsă între 52 și 74 de ani, edentați total care au fost reabilitați cu diferite remedii protetice. Studiul a fost realizat timp de 18 luni și a inclus chestionare de satisfacție și eficiență masticatorie. Rezultate. Ca metode de tratamente au fost alese protezele mobile, protezele fixe pe implanturi prin înșurubare și protezele fixe pe implanturi prin cimentare. Astfel, în urma studiului efectuat, cel mai jos grad de satisfacție și masticație l-au primit protezele mobile, cu un procentaj de 40% de satisfacție și 30% de masticație. Un grad egal a fost prezent la protezele fixe pe implanturile prin înșurubare și prin cimentare, cu diferențe mai mici de 10%. Procentajul de satisfacție și masticație constituind 90%. Concluzii. Restaurarea implanto-protetică reprezintă reabilitarea de elecție în tratamentul edentației totale, cu obținerea unor rezultate impunătoare, restaurând integral sistemul stomatognat și funcțiile acestuia.
