Initiating a global task of comprehending the ways leading to a “new humanism for the 21st Century”, UNESCO calls for its universal moral and intellectual support drawing on the fundamental values of humanity. We believe that solving this problem could be facilitated by studying memoiristics applying an interpretative ethnological model titled Comprehending Hermeneutic Maxims and developed by us. This model based upon the achievements of interpretive anthropology by C. Geertz widely uses components of such our concepts as humanization of myth and megamodern as an innovative toolkit. A “hermeneutic maxim” can be defined as a description of an element of the world image shaped by mythological consciousness in the narrative under consideration which is structured according to the hermeneutical syntagm stating, “The Universe is such that...”. A brief description of the above model is provided. Its application is demonstrated by using the fragments from the memoirs by Anatolii Labunschii, a cultural figure, a master of applied arts, and a writer (Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova) as an example. Comprehending Hermeneutic Maxims is a model focused on revealing hermeneutic meanings of ethical empiricism of an ethnos which are unwittingly or consciously shaped by its representatives’ narratives. The corresponding hermeneutic maxims are examined as ethnocultural specificity of shaping the era of a “new humanism for the 21st century”
