Rezumat

The 1990s began under the sign of national rebirth, a period when many artists were provoked by the changes in the society, revised their artistic activity and directed it in line with the national values. In the vanguard, there were also puppeteer actors from the “Licurici” Republican Puppet Theater headed by the actor Victor Ștefaniuc, who had been advocating for a national theater in terms of form and content. The first step in the creation of a new artistic staff was the staging the show Ivan Turbincă in the spring of 1989, after the homonymous story by Ion Creanga. This choice from the Crengian heritage was quite suggestive to lay the foundation of a national theater. Or else, the Ivan Turbincă show became a manifesto of the actors, who pleaded in defense of the national theater, for the language and the alphabet, being themselves “gatekeepers” (à la Ivan Turbincă) of the Puppet Theater. Then, the idea of registering the group with the name of Guguţă is promoted, to which on September 27, 1989 was granted the status of theater-studio under the aegis of the Theater Union of Moldova.
