Rezumat

The southern part of Republic of Moldova and Low Danube region is under impact of natural hazards and anthropogenic pressure. This area is influenced by earthquakes of intermediate depth from the Vrancea seismic zone, situated in Romania. The prevention of negative impact from this hazard is based on the monitoring seismicity, conducting of the seismotectonic investigation, seismic hazard assessment, long-term earthquake prediction research, and engineering seismology. Seismic hazard is presented on different level by maps of seismic zoning and seismic micro-zoning, which were approved as normative documents for territory of Republic of Moldova. Natural geological hazards are also landslides, erosion, sensible properties of soil to water impact (liquefaction, densification). The mapping of geological hazards is a first step for the risk assessment from these events. Climatic hazards as storm rainfall, floods, drought, and hail have a strong impact to the environment and sustainable development of this region. The review of climate change impact to the climatic hazard events will demonstrate the importance of the study these natural processes. The complex approach for the assessment of the environmental condition is needed for the assessment of natural potential of Low Danube region including all natural and anthropogenic factors
