At present, in the Republic of Moldova, the most common helminthiasis (in decreasing order) are enterobiosis (oxyuriasis), ascaridiosis, echinococcosis, trichocephalosis and hymenolepiasis. In the period from 2001 to 2018, over half a million investigations on the presence of helminth eggs (scatological and perianal prints on enterobiosis) were performed annually in the republic. Although, according to the requirements of the current legislation, the target contingent for such investigations are children, their quota in coprological investigations was just below 50,0%; in enterobiosis investigations ≈ 60,0%. During the reference period, the number of people with dif erent species of helminth was decreased: from ≈ 44.000 in 2001 to 13.000 in 2018. More than 90% of the cases detected were attributed to children. h e frequency of invasions with dif erent helminth species decreased from 7,4% (12,4% – children) in 2001 to 2,3% (4,1% – children) in 2018. h e level of coverage with antiparasitic treatment has also improved. h us in 2018 he constituted 96,1% (96,6% – children), compared with 68,4% (72,9% – children) in 2001. Health education, sanitation of localities and improvement of water quality – are those measures that can essentially inl uence the reduction of these pathologies.
