Rezumat

In the present study two geographical areas were selected, from which potable groundwater samples were systematically collected from central water supplies in the region of Kavala, Northern Greece. The selected areas are close to the Nestos and Strymon Rivers. During the year 2012 groundwater samples were collected and analyzed three times every four months for the following parameters: pH, electric conductivity, nitrate, chloride, sodium, potassium, total hardness, total alkalinity, bicarbonate and calcium. The main objective of the current case study was to study the effects of the area and time period on the above parameters within the limits given by the 98/83/EC Directive. The findings of the Linear Mixed Effects modeling revealed statistically significant main effects of both factors on the examined parameters. Acknowledgement: The statistical approach was developed in the frame of the project BSB 27-MONITOX.
