Delegation is a skill of which we have all heard - but which few understand. It can be used either as an excuse for dumping failure onto the shoulders of subordinates, or as a dynamic tool for motivating and training your team to realize their full potential. Effective delegation is an important skill in both leadership and management. However, an important element of doing so is assessing each task being delegated and grading it according to the amount of authority that it requires on the part of the colleague who will be performing it.This ensures the best outcome both in terms of the task itself and the development of the person fulfilling it. |
