Gastric tetany is one of the severe and rare complications of the gastric ulcer characterized by multiple repeated vomiting, caused by decompensated pyloric stenosis, leading to severe loss of chlorides and, in majority of cases, to death. At the same time, this complication represents many diffi culties to diagnose it. A case of sudden death caused by gastric tetany is presented in the paper. The diagnosis was established postmortem, basing on the characteristic features (greatly expanded stomach, presence of decompensated pyloric stenosis, nephrosis and tubular hydropic dystrophy), in the absence of other pathological changes.

Желудочная тетания – это одно из тяжелых, труднодиагностируемых и редко встречающихся осложнений язвы желудка, характеризующееся повторными многократными рвотами, на фоне декомпенсированного пилоростеноза, ведущими к острой потере хлоридов и в большинстве случаев – к смерти. В статье представлен случай внезапной смерти от желудочной тетании. Диагноз был поставлен посмертно, основанный на характерных признаках (значительно расширенный желудок, наличие декомпенсированного пилоростеноза, известковый нефроз), при отсутствии других патологических изменений.
