Supervision has developed over the years based on a complex conception, based on the intention to contribute to the solution of several problems, including: understanding of the professional-beneficiary relationships, continuous improvement in the professional level, improving the welfare practices offered to the various social categories, monitoring / evaluation of the professional activity process. The supervisor fulfills a multitude of roles, by which he influences the practice of the social worker in the sense of its efficiency, among which: - the role of coordinator and administrator, having the authority to coordinate, enhance and evaluate the professional performance of supervisors, to provide services that satisfy the clients the role of trainer, supervision being an interaction process in which an exchange of knowledge and practices takes place; - the role of mediator, the supervisor being the “bridge of connection” between the staff and the administration of the institution, including a resource person in resolving conflicts and disputes between social workers; - the role of mentor, providing support to supervisors in adapting to the occupational environment and developing professional identity; - the role of consultant, in solving challenging situations and developing a reflective practice; - the role of evaluator, providing feedback to the; - the role of agent of change, working directly and indirectly with the aim of increasing professionalism, improving the organizational environment and facilitating interactions between different institutional levels. Tasks that are performed through the supervisory support function, refer to helping supervisors cope with stress and support creative professional development. Rich Ph. (1993), the developer of the integrated model of clinical supervision, establishes that supervision has 4 functions: facilitating, professional development, socializing the staff and providing services. Researchers Alschuler M., Silver Th. and McArdle L. (2015) took the researchers' view of Kadushin A. and Harkness D., establishing that supervision was divided into a tripartite scheme consisting of administrative or managerial tasks, educational or clinical tasks, and support tasks. Supervision is a characteristic of the social assistance system, the supreme value of which is the learning of the values and principles necessary for the daily activity of the specialists in the field. Further research could contribute to the precise definition of supervision by delimiting the area of competence, allowing the user to choose his type of supervision according to his needs. |
