Rezumat

The legacy of the Moldovan Democratic Republic (MDR) from 1917-1918, which emerged from the Russian Empire, after Bessarabia has been annexed by Russia, is still not capitalized by the authorities of the contemporary Moldovan State – Republic of Moldova. Yet, the Republic of Moldova is a successor of MDR and it must pay attention to its history – to its roots. Unfortunately, in 1918 no one of great powers recognized the independence of MDR, proclaimed at January, 24, 1918. Still, the importance of MDR, from the historical point of view, is topical even now. It could play a substantial role in consolidating the Moldovan State at the present historical stage. The Baltic States are an example of the historical legacy their antecessors capitalization in their countries of the interwar period. Of course, this depends on the fact if and how the state authorities recognize the importance of their state history.
