Hepatitis C has been recognized as an emerging problem among hemodialysis patients and parenteral viral hepatitis remain to be a major threat for both hemodialysis patients and for health professionals who serve them. Another way of transmission of HCV is through sharing contaminated materials by intravenous drug users in time it became the most important route of transmission of hepatitis C. In European community countries the prevalence of HCV among intravenous drug users ranging from 25% to 70%. Another group at high risk of infection are the medical workers who have a higher prevalence of HCV, suggesting that some medical occupations represent a higher risk of infection. |
