The authors of the present work analyses modern signatures from a historical-evolving point of view and proposes a definition and classification of signatures based on the graphic information a signature contains. Examining the stages of the signature identification examination carried out by the expert, the author highlights some specific features of signature investigation, that must be taken into consideration by the graphologic specialists.

În lucrare autorii analizează semnătura contemporanilor noştri în aspect istorico-evolutiv, propune o definiţie şi o clasificare a acestora după volumul de informaţie grafică cuprinsă în conţinutul lor. Examinând etapele cercetării identificatoare a semnăturilor de către expert, autorul scoate în evidenţă unele particularităţi în cercetarea semnăturilor, demne de a fi luate în considerare de către specialiştii grafoscopişti.
