Human rights in the current context have formed over centuries, ranging from the slave state to the present, when the individual can be put on an equal footing with the state in a trial. At present, human rights are exposed in various normative acts, starting with the national constitution, and ending with international agreements (treaties, pacts, agreements) on supranational level. Besides the bilateral and multilateral agreements between states, there are also organizations aiming at protecting these rights, for example the UN, which drew up the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the distant year of 1948. The main purpose of this statement was the elimination of all forms of violence and discrimination that attacked the human being, and any signatory state of the declaration must respect it. |
