Rezumat

Chemical markers have been widely used in chemosystematic botanical studies. In terms of taxonomy, phenols proved to be the most popular type of secondary metabolites. This papers aims at developing a chromatographic method to enable identifying the apomictic hybrids and taxonomic classification, a method based on HPLC analysis and comparison of phenols profiles, and based on them to determine genetic diversity. Walnut cultivars and hybrids were studied. Phenolic composition of leaves was different, both quantitatively and qualitatively, depending on cultivar. The working method used seemed to be quite useful for analysis of phenolic compounds in walnut leaves. Phenolic compounds, when examined qualitatively and quantitatively, are able to define genetic identity of a cultivar.
