The aim of the study is to evaluate the urinary concentration of nitric oxide metabolites in children with glomerulonephritis in different stages of the disease. The prospective study of them data on 80 patients with primary glomerulonephritis, including 20 children with steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS), 15 children with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS), 25 children with acute glomerulonephritis (GN) nephritic syndrome, and 20 children with chronic glomerulonephritis (CG) nephrotic form, who were examined during the exacerbation and remission. The control group consisted of 20 healthy children. Nitric oxide metabolites concentrations represent noninvasive biomarkers for assessing the degree of oxidative stress in glomerulonephritis. The levels of oxidative stress is useful to predicte complications, monitoring the efficacy of therapeutic strategies aimed at reduce the intensity of cellular oxidative stress and to contribut to the prevention of associated renal injury |
