Adolescence is a decisive period in the crystallization of personality, in making decisions, in the process of maturing, affirming and gaining the autonomy of young people. Knowing the crisis of originality, characteristic of this age, will help to understand, support and develop the personality of adolescents. In this context, the teacher plays an important role, which becomes a guide for the adolescent who goes through powerful metamorphoses. The article presents the results of an experimental study on a group of 298 students and 53 teachers regarding the role of the teacher in shaping the character and orientation of the adolescent. Following the analysis of the results it was found that the primary needs of adolescents are: self-confidence, personal development, freedom, communication, they show strong sporting, economic, artistic, socio-human interests, and important values remain: education, friendship, family, respect, patience, truth and other. You will also find out the arguments regarding the role of the teacher in the training of young people, as well as the opinion of young people on what „strong man” means.
