This article is dedicated to the visions of Constantin Stere regarding the freedom of religion. The professor mentions the important fact that the religious belief establishes the conduct of a person in life important. Parallel to this, the scholar considers that religious tolerance is one of the criteria of progress, including the criterion, which represents the manifestation of the cult. In his opinion, the more powerful the religious belief, the more pronounced is the religious tolerance. It is important that nobody should be forced to be tied to a certain church or to serve a cult that a person does not believe in. In his works, the constitutionalist formulated some very progressive norms as to the freedom of conscience.
