Rezumat

Urban green spaces fulfill a range of roles, supporting the social and ecological urban system, helping to recreate the population, reduce urban stress, maintain biodiversity of ecosystems, optimize physico-chemical parameters of the urban environment, etc. The expansion of urban areas, transport and energy infrastructure (necessary for their operation) has affected (quantitative and qualitative) the capacity of green areas to provide environmental services. The temporal and spatial evolution of urban green areas in the Republic of Moldova shows that during the years 1997-2017 there is a predominant trend of areas decreasing occupied by them (expressed in% of the total surface area of the urban localities), from 13.3% (1997) to 8.9% (2017), so a decrease in the green areas from 8.1 thousand ha (1997) to 7.7 thousand ha (2017). In country, the average area of green spaces per inhabitant represents 50,8 square meters (2017). If refer to a minimum of 26 s.q./inhabitant (the European Union standard), then we conclude that 16 cities in the country experience a shortage of green areas per capita, while 20 cities register quite favorable situation to this chapter - exceed the value of 50 s.q. green space / inhabitant (World Health Organization standard). The most affected by the human activity are the green spaces from cities Chisinau and Otaci. By category, the green spaces within the perimeter of the urban localities of the republic, during the years 2010-2017, indicate a considerable decrease of those in the category of tourist and recreation areas, also of the specialized ones, at the opposite end - increasing the green spaces with limited access.
