Rezumat

In sugar beet crops from the Republic of Moldova several beetle species are found to be pests, amongst which more often produce damage with economically importance: Chaetocnema concinna Marsh., Ch. breviuscula Fald., and Ch. tibialis Mg., which generally have a similar biology, a similar mode of attack, and combat the same measures. The beet land flies attack various plant species in the families of Chenopodiaceae (beets, spinach, etc.) and Polygonaceae (maquis, knotweed, buckwheat, etc.), causing greater damage to beet crops, the period of planting. After the attack the leaves of the young plants just emerged get a perforation aspect and dry. Extreme damage is recorded in the warm and dry spring. Beetle beetle or Atomaria linearis Steph. Is an oligophagous species that attacks various beet species: sugar beet, fodder beet, and table beet. Extremely high damage is recorded in the years of cold and wet spring, especially in rare crops and poorly developed plants. In large invasions the pest destroys over 4080% of seed germs. For the successful protection of sugar beet crops from pests it is necessary to carry out a series of prophylactic and therapeutic measures in each growing season of the year. The Republic of Moldova is in a very favourable area for the development of a wide range of pests of sugar beet crops. All plant protection procedures must be directed towards reducing the pest density
