The article deals with the research of local identity phenomenon, carried out in Vadul-Rascov locality. Studying the importance of local identity helps to find out ways of keeping one’s identity in the globalizing world of unstable boundaries. The results showed a positive local identity of the villagers with its common and specific features. The given local identity includes the natural environment, family and immediate circle, agricultural cycle, religious holidays which are all interconnected and form the rural pattern. In general, local identity of the residents is narrow, being limited by geographical and social frames. The sense of connection with the place of residence is expressed in the formation of “primordial” complexes of family, kin and neighborhood interactions.
