Nostalgia in the artistic culture of Gagauzia is analyzed not from the point of view of medicine or psychiatry. It does not liken emigrant melancholy on the lost homeland, does not oppose urbanization, industrialization and modernization. Its roots lie in the depths of an unidentified history, as well as in the failed "American dream", introduced into the public consciousness by the party slogan: "Our generation will live under communism». Experiencing a post-imperial trauma, nostalgic artists are fueled by the survived real artifacts and imaginary pictures of the nomadic past of distant ancestors who have been bridging the Eurasian space in the mighty movement from East to West. A little-known biography of the people gives rise to a sentimental craving for the past.
