We consider the term as an autonomous monosemantic unit that brings us precise, explicit and unitary knowledge about "things" in a specialized field (in our case it is the terminology of cosmetology) and it ensures specialized communication in the respective field. It is known that the explanation of the mechanism for the formation, establishment and functioning of cosmetic terminology is part of a more global system, namely that of the medical terminological system as an integral part of the medical language. In terms of temporal differentiation, the cosmetology lexicon comprises a lexical layer called archaic and has a history of thousands of years and another lexical neological layer, which has a recent history, and a greater occurrence. In this last layer are the words formed within the English language by combining two or more formative elements, one of which at least is neologism. Here we can include the recent borrowings, which had entered in the language starting with two half of 19th century. In this article we will not make the distinctions between the terms neologism, neologic, new word and the phrase recent word, which in this text are used as synonyms. Cosmetic terminology has not so far been a topic of lexicographical interest. In this article we propose to describe the main and secondary parameters of the cosmetic terminology in the lexicographical plan. |
