Soybean (Glycine max L.) production is severely affected by low P availability and drought. A pot experiment under controlled soil moisture conditions was accomplished with the aim to assess the effect of rhizobacteria consortium of Pseudomonas fluroscens and Azotobacter chroococcum application and phosphorus fertilization on the productivity of two soybean cultivars. All plants irrespective of treatments were maintained under well-watered condition till flowering stage. After that a half of plants were subjected to moderate drought for 12 days. The results showed that both soybean cultivars benefit from rhizobacteria application as well as from P supplementation. Productivity of Horboveanca cv. displayed better response to biofertilization than Zodiac cultivar under temporary drought. Experimental results find out that application of rhizobacteria could compensate partially the effect of P fertilizer. This study suggested that application of Pseudomonas fluroscens şi Azotobacter chroococcum suspension could be used as biofertilizer to enhance soybean seed production under normal soil moisture as well as under water limited conditions. |
