Rezumat

Dinu Lipatti defines the typology of authentic artist who blends music skills and life path, leaving testimony of his great spiritual and artistic values. Remarcable personality of the compedium of musical interpretative phenomenon of the early twentieth century, the Romanian pianist was born on March 19, 1917 in Bucharest, in a wealthy family with a real cult for music. Since the age of 7 years, the basis of his musical education will be guided with discipline, work and rigorousness by Mihail Jora and Florica Musicescu, two important personalities of the Romanian musical world. In 1932 he graduated from the Royal Academy class of Florica Musicescu, piano teacher, and later continued his studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, with famous French maestro Alfred Cortot. Since 1936 he starts a true concert´s pianist activity, giving numerous concerts in France, Germany and Italy. At the beginning of World War II, Dinu Lipatti returns to Romania, where he gives numerous concerts both as a soloist, and also accompanying George Enescu. Between 87 1939 and 1943, Dinu Lipatti will mix composing with the concert activity taken place both in the country and in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Portu-gal, Norway or Finland. In 1943, Dinu Lipatti left Romania with his future wife, Madeleine Cantacuzino, settling in Switzerland. Soon will be invited to give piano lessons at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva, where he will work untill 1949. Same year, 1943, the first signs of his disease appear but Dinu Lipatti goes on with his artistic career giving recitals and concerts accompanied by prestigious orchestras and conductors such as: Herbert von Karajan, Ernst Ansermet, George Georgescu, Arturo Toscanini, AlceoGalliera, Charles Munch and Paul Sacher. Unfortunately, his health is becoming increasingly affected by the relentless progression of the disease and Dinu Lipatti dies on December 2, 1950, at the age of only 33 years. The performing art of the great Romanian pianist remains immortal for posterity due to exceptional value of his artistic personality, Dinu Lipatti belonging thus to the category of the most distinguished pianists of the twentieth century.
