Since the introduction of bronchoscopy into the medical practice, the incidence of complications following the extraction of the foreign bodies from the lower respiratory tract was considerably reduced. The aim of this study is to analyze the cases of tracheobronchial foreign bodies, brought via AVIASAN line in recent years, and solved by the pediatric otorhinolaryngology clinic “Em. Cotaga “. Materials and methods. We performed a retrospective study involving 188 patients with tracheobronchial foreign bodies. Results. According to our study the predominant age of children who aspirated foreign body in their tracheobronchial tract was from 1 to 2 years (59.6%). The foreign bodies aspirated into the lower respiratory tract were more often in male (63.3 %%) than in female (36.7%). The localization in the right bronchus of the aspirated foreign bodies predominated (60.1%) compared to the one in the left bronchus (31.9%), and a small number of foreign bodies lodged in the larynx (3.2%). By origin of foreign bodies predominated the sunfl ower seeds (30.9%) and walnut kernel (23.9%). Conclusions - by age of children aspirated foreign bodies into their lower respiratory tract predominated patients of 1 – 2 years. - by gender, the male sex was more noticeable in the case of inhaled foreign bodies. - the location of the aspirated foreign bodies is more often the right bronchus than the left one. - the origin of the foreign body depended on peculiarities of diet and lifestyle of the population, the age of the child, the games and the interests of the child. - no any complication or death during or after tracheobronchoscopy in children were recorded.
