Rezumat

PROJECT – IRSES, „PHOTOCATALYTIC CLUSTER COMPLEXES FOR ARTIFICIAL PHOTOSYNTHESIS APPLICATIONS” ACRONYM - PCAP (REGISTRATION NO – 246902). Project duration is 36 months (November 2010 – November 2013) The major problem of the world at this time is the energy and its cuantity to supply all the necesities of population now and in future. Coupled to this problem is the environmental issue of global warming due to burning of the fossil fuels. Artificial photosynthesis is one of the possible solutions of this problem if we’ll elaborate the technology which will convert the water and carbon dioxide into organic fuel as green leaves are doing. The consortium for this project (Prof. A. Benniston, Newcastle University, United Kingdom; Prof. I. Mangalagiu, University Al. I. Cuza, Romania; Prof. C. Turtă, Institute of Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of Moldova) was assembled specifically to focus on one segment of artificial photosynthesis - photochemical water decomposition, based on transition metal complexes catalysts. The overall aim of this project is to set up a long-term research cooperation and synergistic partnership to create a competitive groups of scienties capable of solving complex scientific problems.
