Verbena triphylla L. Hér. and O. basilicum var. citriodorum are cultivated as aromatic and spice plants in diff erent areas of the world, especially for the lemon-like smell of their leaves, due to the presence of 3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadienal, also known as lemonal or citral, a mixture of two isomers: trans-citral or geranial and cis-citral or neral, which is used in food and perfumery. The purpose of this study was to determine, at diff erent stages of development, the composition of the essential oil of the species Verbena triphylla L. Hér. and O. basilicum var. citriodorum, grown at the National Botanical Garden (Institute) „Al. Ciubotaru”. The composition of the essential oil was analysed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The 29 compounds identified in the essential oil of Verbena triphylla L. Hér. include limonene (24,6-25,3%), geranial (14,4-16,7%), neral (11,4-13,8%), caryophyllene oxide (7,8-9,0%), spathulenol (4,9-6,6%), which constitute 66,0-68,5% of the oil composition. In the oil of O. basilicum var. citriodorum, 37 constituents were determined, the main ones being: linalool (28,7-31,2%), geranial (14,3-18,0%), carveol (11,9-14,7%), 4-terpineol (6,5-6,7%) and nerol (3,2-6,7%), which constitute 68,1-73,8% of the total composition. |

Scopul acestui studiu a constat în determinarea, în diferite faze de dezvoltare, a compoziţiei uleiului volatil la Verbena triphylla L. Hér. și O. basilicum var. citriodorum, specii cultivate la Grădina Botanică Naţională (Institut) „Al. Ciubotaru”. Compoziţia uleiului volatil a fost analizată prin gaz-cromatografi a cu spectrometrie de masă (GC-MS). Cei 29 de compuși identificaţi în uleiul volatil de Verbena triphylla L. Hér. includ limonen (24,6-25,3%), geranial (14,4-16,7%), neral (11,4-13,8%), cariofi len oxid (7,8-9,0%), spatulenol (4,9-6,6%) și reprezintă 66,0-68,5% din compoziţia uleiului. În uleiul de O. basilicum var. citriodorum au fost determinaţi 37 de componenţi, principalii fi ind: linalool (28,7-31,2%), geranial (14,3-18,0%), carveol (11,9-14,7%), 4-terpineol (6,5-6,7%), nerol (3,2-6,7%), care constituie 68,1-73,8% din compoziţia totală.</p></description> </descriptions> <formats> <format>application/pdf</format> </formats> </resource>
