This article discusses the subject of formation of the Moldovan Democratic Republic in the context of the Russian revolutions of 1917. The author ascertains that the complicated process of self-determination of Bessarabia originated both in the phenomenon of contamination with the ideas of political and social emancipation of the Russian Revolution, as well as in the past and the vigor of the national movement in the territory between the Prut and the Dniester. It is stressed that the Moldovan Democratic Republic was a truly democratic entity that did not accept the Bolshevik power and which tended to align externally with the Triple Entente’ camp. |
