Metaphor and simile do not only exhibit distinctions at the surface level, but also at the deep level of meaning. Both could be interpreted using the mechanism of CATEGORISATION or COMPARISON, depending on certain factors like conventionality, aptitude, form. Applying the new developments in the study of metaphor and simile to the analysis of the narrative text allows us to make additional comments referring to a deeper conceptualization level of a certain situation. |
