The obtaining of the biological active substances from raw material of natural origin is one of the priority direction of research of the contemporary scientific community [1, 2]. The plants contain a wide range of compounds, that can be extracted and used as natural raw material in diverse fields of human activity, as: pharmaceutical, food, textile industry. A highly valuable category of plant extracts are the tannins – natural compounds with polyphenolic structure, which possess remarkable antioxidant properties. The phenolic compounds of vegetal origin are the biggest group of exogenous antioxidants. These are known for their capacity to neutralize the free radicals by donating a hydrogen atom and/or of an electron to the free radicals. The position and the degree of hydroxilation, polarity, solubility and the potential reducing are the main factors that influence the antioxidant activity of the phenolic compounds. The experimental determinations realised in this study had the aim the selecting of the extraction method and the establishing of the optimal parameters of obtaining of vegetal extracts enriched with phenolic compounds with high biological activity. As a raw material for research was selected the oak sawdust, a secondary product of wood processing enterprises which according to the literature data [3, 4] contain increased quantities of phenolic compounds. For extracts obtaining from vegetal material were used the statical method (maceration during 24 hours and extract leakage) and the method of extraction in ultrasonic field (during 30 min) of the ratio 1:5 and 1:10 (weight of the dry product/solvent volume) using as a solvent the ethanol of 50 and 70%. The process of extraction has been realised at a controlled temperature in 3 steps for each method. The determination of the total contain of phenolic compounds has been realised by the Folin-Ciocalteu method with minor modifications, using as a standard the gallic acid (λ =746 nm). The analysis of the obtained data allows to conclude that for the increasing of the obtaining yield of the bioactive substances from sawdust is to be preferred the use of the extraction method of the vegetal product-solvent in 1:5 ratio in ultrasonic field during 30 minutes, using as a solvent the 50% ethylic alcohol.
