From all species of the genus Dunaliella, microalga Dunaliella salina presents interest and practical advantage for industrial cultivation due to a high content of carotenoids, which can reach 10% of the biomass, but also due to the content of glycerol, which can represent 30% of dry cell mass. For this purpose the strain Dunaliella salina CNM-AV-02 has been cultivated on the organic- mineral nutrient medium, previously developed based on the cultural liquid of spirulina, with supplementation of some compounds of Ge(IV) (GeO2 and coordination compounds coded FM-28, FM-30, FM-35) in the concentration of 5, 10 and 20 mg/L and Cu(II) (coded RGT-23, RGT-24, RGT-25, RGT-28) in the concentration of 2, 4, 6 mg/L, and with variation of the intensity of irradiation (3500lx and 5000lx) during cultivation. Intense lighting has an important role in the synthesis of glycerol by green microalga D. salina, the most significant data were obtained by irradiation of culture with 5000lx. From Ge(IV) compounds was revealed GeO2, that in the concentration of 20 mg/L increased the glycerol content by 33.2%. From Cu(II) coordination compounds the most significant stimulatory effect were observed for metal complexes RGT-24 and RGT-23, that in the concentration of 2–4 mg/L increased by 33.0–37.4% the glycerol content in D. salina biomass.
