The paper analyzes the question of Bessarabia in the framework of the Romanian-Italian relationship in the interwar period. Special attention is given to the political events and the diplomatic related to the question of the delayed ratification by the Italian Parliament, in 1927, of the “Treaty of recognition of the union of Bessarabia with Romania”, signed in Paris on 28 October 1920. In the paper, we explore the causes of the delay, as well as the Italian attitude towards Romania in the Bessarabian question. Only the signing, on 16 September 1926, of the “Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Romania and Italy”, made possible, in 1927, the ratification by the Italian Parliament of the Treaty of Union. |
