The article at hand present the history of the study of the Majkop-Novosvobodnaya-Baniabik type axes, which are one of the most numorous and informative category of products, associated with the Majkop-Novosvobodnaya cultural community. There are four main periods of study: from the first findings to the realization of the Majkop phenomenon (end of 19th – 30s of 20th century); from understanding of the phenomenon to the first concepts (30s-60s of 20th century); from the first concept to the concept of the “Circumpontic metallurgical province” and the borders of the Early Bronze Age (70s-80s of 20th century); from the development of previous periods to the current level of knowledge (90s of 20th century – present days). |

Este consacrată istoriei cercetării topoarelor de tip Baniabic-Maikop-Novosvobodnaia, de origine caucasiană cu extindere din Caucas și Volga, până la Dunărea de Mijloc. Au fost delimitate patru perioade istoriografice distincte: de la primele descoperiri până la conștientizarea fenomenului Maikop (sf. sec. XIX – anii 30 ai sec. XX); de la conştientizarea fenomenului Maikop, până la elaborarea primelor concepții (anii 30-60 ai sec. XX); de la primele concepții, până la concepția Provinciei metalurgice circumpontice și a hotarelor epocii bronzului timpuriu (anii 70-80 ai sec. XX); de la concepțiile din perioadele precedente la cele curente (anii 90 ai sec. XX până în prezent).</p></description> <description xml:lang='ru' descriptionType='Abstract'><p>Статья посвящена истории изучения топоров типа Майкоп-Новосвободная-Баниабик как одной из наиболее массовых и информативных категорий изделий, связанных с Майкопско-Новосвободной культурной общностью. Выделяются четыре основных периода их изучения: от первых находок до осознания Майкопского феномена (ко- нец XIX – 30-е гг. XX в.); от осознания феномена до первых концепций (30-е – 60-е гг. XX в.); от первой концепции к концепции «Циркумпонтийской металлургической провинции» и границ эпохи ранней бронзы (70-е – 80-е гг. XX в.); от разработок предшествующих периодов к современному уровню знаний (90-е гг.
