Psycho-social determinants of health at the stage of perinatal care.Based on the experience accumulated in the frame of Perinatological Consultative Section of the Municipal Clinical Hospital nr. 1, and on the analysis of bibliographical sources, it was made a synthesis of the information regarding health psycho-social determinants at the stage of perinatal care, intended for health experts and social assistants, that offer services for families during pregnancy and after birth. Being proposed as a work tool in medical and psycho-social assistence given to women being in difficulty during pregnancy and after birth. The systematized framework includes psycho-social determinants of pregnant women health, mothers and new born children. They are important, in the author’s vision, for the specific of Republic of Moldova. The up named determinants are: the attitude towards pregnant women, the access to medical services of quality, social statute, behavior, nutrition, attitude of pregnant women towards perinatal care initiation, perinatal care quality, life conditions, psycho-emotional statute, labor, attitude of close persons/community towards
pregnant women’s needs. The knowledge of psycho-social health determinants of pregnant women and new born children, can offer adequate solutions to problems regarding access to perinatal care and its quality, as well as reduction of social and health risks for mother and child.
